Sense International India, also known as Sense India, is the only national organisation supporting and advocating for
children and adults with deafblindness and multiple disabilities for their better care through early intervention, individualised education and livelihood opportunities.
When ten-year-old Varnasri was asked to leave her school because of her low vision, her world went quiet—filled with uncertainty and fear. Born with profound hearing loss and low vision in Salem, Tamil Nadu, she was left without a safe place to learn, and her parents began to lose hope.
That changed when Varnasri joined our deafblind education programme. With patient teaching, visual learning, and her family by her side, she began to blossom. Today, she writes on her own, communicates confidently using sign language and gestures, and builds independence through creative play.
Her father says it best: “We had lost hope. Now, we see our daughter learning and expressing herself confidently.”
